What Can I Expect

Going to the Chiropractor is a new experience for many of us. Your first visit to our office will primarily be about getting to know the chiropractor, discussing your history, current condition and health and wellness goals.

Welcome/New Patient Forms:

Upon entering our office you will be welcomed by our staff as a new member of our family.  If you have not already completed the new patient paperwork , you will be asked to do so on arrival.  This paperwork provides us with information about your health history, so we can better assist you in reaching your health goals.  Remember, we can’t treat a problem we aren’t aware of, so please include any and all health concerns you may have.

Consultation:

You will then meet with Dr. Heath for a detailed consultation to discuss your individual health related problems, the goals you hope to achieve, and to address any concerns you may have regarding chiropractic and acupuncture care.  This gives the doctor an opportunity to learn about you and your condition, to determine if chiropractic and acupuncture care are appropriate for your needs.

Exam:

After your consultation, Dr. Heath will perform a thorough chiropractic examination, consisting of postural, neurological, orthopedic, and range of motion testing.  The exam is designed to determine the health of your spine and nervous system, focusing on the detection and correction of Vertebral Subluxations .”

X-Rays:

If deemed necessary based on the results of your consultation and exam, Dr. Heath may refer you to a local imaging center to have images taken.  X-rays can assist the doctor in diagnosis of certain conditions and in development of your individualized treatment plan.

First Treatment:

Once finished with the examination and all appropriate studies, patients will generally receive their first treatment during this same visit.  This initial treatment may include spinal adjustments, acupuncture, physical therapies, electrical muscle stimulation, and/or soft tissue therapies.

At Home Care:

Our concern for your health and wellness doesn’t stop when you leave our office.  To get the maximum benefit from your treatments, Dr. Heath will provide simple instructions for an at home care plan.  Following the doctor’s recommendations will help you feel better between visits and will ease your road to recovery.  At home care may include stretches, exercises, ice or heat application, nutrition advice, or avoidance of certain activities.  We want to provide you with quality, lasting results as quickly as possible, and at home care will help us achieve this goal.
